The next training block is all about building endurance with weekly mileage reaching the 90 miles in a week point. I have once tipped the 100 mile/week barrier and it was tough. Getting back towards this level will be hard work. But as I posted earlier this week, training structure is making these targets seem less daunting. These next 4 weeks have around 300 miles programmed and whilst they aren’t going to be easy I do know that I’m approaching it in a sensible way and a manageable way.
Well that was cold. 9ish miles at -1C. Cold start but looks like a nice day otherwise. Last weekday run of recovery week. Few more easy miles over the weekend and then back to hard work 👍
It’s always quieter from a running perspective on recovery week. One thing I noticed as the week started was a new experience for me.
Maybe soon we can get back to doing what we love best
When I decided to take on a 100 mile race I was determined I would do my best to train for it properly. Put the time in, the miles in and the effort in. Training is currently at the end of week 19 (according to the plan) and for the first time I have to admit that was tough. In the last 3 days the plan had 58 miles with hill efforts to do and an 80+mile week.
Virtual Gut Buster 2020 today. 10 hilly muddy miles around the Ridgeway. Combined it with a warmup and cool down to make a round 18 miles for the day. Another great sunrise, avoided the rain and used the hills for some hill efforts as per the training program.
