#medalmonday. Completed the virtual 10 mile Gut Buster a couple of weeks ago and now have the pleasure of owning this fab new medal. Not been a medal laden 12 months (as we all know) so it’s great to have a new one to add to the collection. Hopefully I’ll get to take part in the actual event in 2021 šŸ¤žšŸ»
Out early today to hit 26+miles. Took a route I’ve run a few times and it’s got some good hills 1500 ft of elevation. Was great as ever. The weeks interval and hills session left the legs with a little less spring and zip as usual but they lasted the distance. Chilly but good running weather. Almost nobody out and about for the entire run and those are the best runs. When you feel you have the whole countryside to yourself.
With lockdown in the UK hopefully moving in the right direction and the possibility of travel (at least in the UK) looking to be back on the agenda I’m hoping to make a couple of trips to the South West - notably St Ives and Charmouth. With my love of trail running I’m looking for some suggestions of running routes in these areas. Anything up to 22 miles.
Hills this morning 😁. 7 x 3 minute uphill efforts with downhill recovery and 3 x 45s uphill as hard as I dare with equal recovery time. Second workout of the week but it went OK. Some good times and sub 5:45 min/mile on one of the final sprint uphills was nice. That’s a hard effort to ease into the weekend with but I had to juggle the plan around this week and that’s how things have turned out.
Reaping the benefits of a recovery week last week.
Easy miles last nigh (6- miles) and then an early morning pyramid speed session. Today I tried to give it my best and although a couple of the shorter runs at the end I didn’t quite time the start right (so the speed wasn’t great) I’m really pleased with the second rep. 3 intervals under 6 min/mile pace at 5:59,5:49,5:35. Very happy with that to start the day.
